
Waxahachie Police Officer Josh Williams was killed while on route to an emergency call Saturday morning.
WAXAHACHIE (CBSDFW.COM) - An officer from the Waxahachie Police Department was killed in car accident while he was responding to a 911 call.
The Waxahachie Community Relations Manger Amy Hollywood said Officer Josh Williams was driving to a disturbance at a fast food restaurant in 600 block of North Highway 77 at around 12:25 a.m. on Saturday when he was hit by another vehicle.
Williams was taken to Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie where he was pronounced dead.
“Josh was very well known and well liked in our community. His was a great guy and a great officer. His death is a tremendous loss for the Waxahachie Police Department and the community,” said Waxahachie Police Chief Chuck Edge.
The other driver was taken to Parkland Hospital. He is in police custody there.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
Williams joined the Waxahachie Police Department in 1995. He is survived by his wife and three children.
