BRONX, N.Y. (Sports Network) – The Texas Rangers signed catcher Koyie Hill to a minor league contract on Tuesday.
Hill started the season with the Cubs and batted .179 with one RBI in 11 games before being designated for assignment on June 14.
The 33-year-old Hill signed with the Nationals on June 19, but was released by Washington on August 3 after hitting .163 with two homers and nine RBI in 31 games at Triple-A Syracuse.
Hill has a career major league average of .210 with eight homers and 76 RBI in 313 games with the Dodgers (2003), Diamondbacks (2004-05), and Cubs (2007-12).
He will join Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League.
