PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) – Country star Randy Travis has had another brush with the law in North Texas. This time Travis is accused of assault.

Officials with Plano police say officers were called about a fight near a church.

“Officers were dispatched to a disturbance that had taken place out in the parking lot of Prestonwood Baptist Church,” Plano police Officer David Tilley explained. “People that were actually out there called 911.”

According to police, Travis got into a physical altercation with another man at some point during a “family argument between a husband and wife.”

After police assessed the incident Officer Tilley said they determined, “Mr. Travis was involved in the altercation. He was issued a citation for a Class C Assault, along with another individual who was also issued a citation for the same thing.”

In addition to police, the Plano Fire Department responded to the 911 call, but everyone at the scene refused medical treatment.

“After the citations were issued they [cited persons] were released and sent on their way,” Tilley said.

It’s been less than three weeks since Travis was arrested in Grayson County. The country singer was arrested earlier this month after being involved in a one-vehicle crash near his home.

A 911 call was also involved in that incident. That call reported a man lying in the road. When troopers went to the scene, near Tioga, they found Travis was the person involved in the crash and that he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.

In February, Travis was charged with public intoxication after being found in a vehicle parked in front of the First Baptist Church of Sanger, about 20 miles from Tioga. Police said the 52-year-old was the only person inside the vehicle.

Back in February Sanger Police Chief Curtis Amyx said the investigating officer also, “Noticed an open bottle of wine in the passenger side of the vehicle.”

No word if alcohol was involved in the incident in Plano.
