DALLAS (AP) — A suspect in a 2010 murder case has used a Dallas police Facebook page to turn himself in.
A Dallas police statement Monday says Augustin Gonzalez was wanted in the April 2010 shooting death of Pedro David Garcia in a northwest Dallas apartment parking lot.
On Friday, Gonzalez posted on the police Facebook page that he wanted to surrender but was still in Mexico. Detectives responded via Facebook, advised him to walk to the nearest U.S. border check point and turn himself in to U.S. authorities.
He did just that Friday night, walking to a border crossing. He now waits in the San Diego County Jail in California for an extradition hearing.
