FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A teenager is hit and killed while trying to cross Highway 175 near Metropolitan in Dallas.

Frank Miner was struck in the evening hours of September 10. The 16-year-old was taken to Baylor Medical Center where he later died.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, two of Miner’s friends witnessed the incident and left the scene to tell his mother what happened. Meanwhile, the driver who hit Miner did stop and showed no signs of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

No word on whether the driver will face any charges.

Officials with the Dallas Independent School District confirm Miner was a student at Lincoln High School.
