ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) – It remains possible that the Dallas Cowboys are playing a game of espionage with the injury situation of Anthony Spencer. It’s a certainty that the outside linebacker is a candidate to sit out the Monday night Bears-at-Cowboys game because his strained pectoral would benefit from sitting out until Oct. 14, when the Cowboys play next, in Baltimore, after a bye.

But Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones tells Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan that Spencer – a top-rated player in Dallas’ top-ranked defense – “should be good to go.’’

“I think he should be good to go,’’ Jones says. “You always wait to see how they warm up. But he should be fine.’’

Spencer is officially listed as “questionable’’ and hasn’t practiced all week for the game involving the two 2-1 clubs. Spencer is among Dallas’ top two defenders in tackles, sacks and QB hurries.

If this is a deceptive ploy, it would not be unprecedented, Dallas having kept its plans to play tight end Jason Witten (spleen) under wraps until Week 1 kickoff at the Giants. In the event Spencer is not “good to go,’’ he’d be replaced in the starting lineup by Victor Butler.
