dfw A Rare Medium Well Done: 10.11.12Best Young Athlete In DFW?

Editor’s note: Greggo doesn’t want us to edit this.  So we won’t.

With apologies to Major Anthony Nelson…wondering if he knew he’d morph into JR Ewing…

The Arlington nine head into the off season with many  question marks. Who stays?  And who goes? The safe bet is Josh Ham is long gone. And look for some potentially big trades. If I were Ian Kinsler, I might start thinking of putting my hut on the real estate market. And franchise face Mike Young may need to get familiar with the bench. Many questions, but Ranger brass are whip-smart and fearless on making tough decisions…

-What is the deal with the sudden problem on bullying? In my day a swift kick in the nuts or a dirt clod upside the head took care of a rowdy ruffian…

-TCU already-legend Gary Patterson lost a power struggle with the Board of Trustees. Coach Pat was in favor of a two game suspension for troubled QB Casey Pachall. TCU head honchos were having none of that. The guarded regents insisted on a year away from school and football. They want to play big-boy NCAA football, but not at expense of integrity. Wise move. I applaud the directorates. Maybe we’ll see Casey next year…

-If I had to move away from my beloved Tejas, here are my city choices in order:

1.San Francisco              4.Denver

2.San Diego                   5.Seattle

3.Los Angeles               6.Phoenix

-Huge five game cluster for your Dallas Cowboys. Four of those on the road in enemy territory. Tour stops in Balt, Carolina, Atl, and the hated Philly Eagles. I see one win and a bunch of mistake-laden performances. But then again, what’s new…

-the more cruel the war, the sooner it will be all over…

-TRIVIA TIME…..

In the storied rivalry of the Texas/OU battles, who is the only QB to go undefeated and tally four wins? Answer down yonder…

-so Commish Rog Goodell  reissues punishment in the bounty nonsense. Over and done with right? Nope! Look for another round of appeals and court time. Aren’t we lucky Adam didn’t appeal his creation to God…

-Tooling around the I30 and I35 exchange in downtown D makes me miss seeing old Reunion Arena. The ACC is nice, but I loved that barn. For that matter, cruising 183 and 114 bums me out not seeing Texas Stadium. Progress is nice but history is more fun…

-Wanna watch a fun college football team? Check out Texas Motor Speedway ringleader Eddie Gossage’s Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. QB Logan Kilgore can fling it and speedy wideout Anthony Amos can catch it. They’re gonna surprise some folks this year. Speaking of TMS, wait till ya get a load of the merry madcap festivities of the Wild Asphalt Circus the week of the Triple A Texas 500. I’m sworn to stealth DEFCON ONE, but let me just say…get your tickets now! You don’t wanna miss this.

-LOCKED AND LOADED LYRICS TO CHEW ON.

“Kneel down he sinners, to streetwise religion. Greed’s been crowned the new King Hollywood’s dream teens. Yesterday’s trash queens, save the blessings for the final ring-AMEN”. Have fun…

-Even though the Ranger men have been ousted from the playoff run, I’m still interested. Great storylines. Especially in the Nation’s Capitol. Playing DC’s first post season contest since 1933, this squad is young, loaded and good. But if they fall short, many hardball holy hierarchy heavy hands will second guess shutting down Steve Strass. Playing for future is fine, but what if it takes another 79 years to get in tournament?.Smart move? Probably. Right move? TBD…

-You masses out there know I’m biased. Most notably when it comes to my beloved Horned Frogs. But for my money, the TCU radio booth is among the best. Brian Estridge is one of the best play-by-play callers in the country. And analyst Jon Denton is always on top of describing the action, and telling listeners the how’s and whys happening on the gridiron. Check these guys out. They are pros pro…

-If you youngsters want some quality music from the past, check out Point Blank. They are the greatest band to never reach superstar status. They are a local group from the mid-cities who got caught on the bad end of music industry politics. They should have been huge. Lead guitar man Rusty Burns is Stevie Ray Vaughn good. Their stylings can be found on ITunes. Seriously, put em in the pod. “Niclole” is a terrific song. Trust me on this…

-TRIVIA ANSWER

UT QB Peter Gardere is the only signal caller to record a perfect 4-0 in the Texas/OU clash…

-Please give me all your thoughts, bitches and complaints about my blog prose. I can be tracked down at GreggoTCU@aol.com. I read all and if you need a response, I’m usually game. My twitter is @TCUWhiteTrash. My personal cell number is BR-549…

-Gamble hard, and gamble big. Just always remember, 50/50 are the odds of a fool…
