Mavs Suspend Delonte West, Again
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Dallas Mavericks announced on Thursday that they have again indefinitely suspended Delonte West for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
“We have suspended Delonte” said Mavs General Manager Donnie Nelson. “The suspension is effective immediately and no other statement will be issued.”
This is West’s second suspension from the team this year.
He was punished on October 15th after a pre season game locker room incident in which the guard “cut it loose,’’ according to a source. West was reinstated the next afternoon after meeting with Nelson and head coach Rick Carlisle.
The veteran West has been forthcoming about his struggles with bipolar disorder, which he manages with the help of medication.
West is obviously not happy with the Mavericks decision to suspend him. After the news was released of his suspension he was busy tweeting (@CharleeRedz13):
“If I’m not what u lookin 4 ….That’s fine…just dont kick me in my ass on the way out the door….I didn’t do anything to deserve that”
“I love the city of Dallas..I love playin in the NBA…no I’m not off my meds…no I ain’t on no bipolar trip…this real people lives”
“And it just ain’t right..imma leave it at that..no ill will towards no one…I’m just sittin here across from the arena wit tear in my eyes“
West has played in all seven games for the Mavericks this preseason and is averaging 5.0 points, 2.0 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game.
