FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Two people were taken to the hospital following a Friday afternoon crash involving a car and a senior citizen transport van in Fort Worth. The incident happened at the intersection of Wichita Street and Wilbarger Street, but details surrounding the crash are still not known.
Both of the injured victims were transported to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. One of them was the teenage male driver of the car, who had injured his arm and was initially unresponsive at the scene. He has since regained consciousness and is now in stable condition. The other victim was an elderly male passenger in the transport van, who had complained of minor injuries and is also expected to be okay.
Emergency crews had to pry open the silver car in order to extricate the injured driver.
The mid-sized van belongs to Park View Care Center in Fort Worth. A spokesperson for the facility said that it is used to shuttle patients to and from doctor appointments and other errands. There were reportedly additional minor injuries to two staff members inside of the transport van, but those victims were treated at the scene. It has not been said how many other people were inside of the van at the time of the crash.
