MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - A 16-year-old motorist lost control of his car Saturday afternoon, and hit a house in Mesquite.
According to Mesquite Police, the driver was coming down Rutherford Drive at a fairly high rate of speed when he left the road. The driver crossed a lawn and smashed through the exterior wall of the house, winding up three rooms inside the structure.
There was no one home at the time, and no one was injured, but the damage to the house is extensive.
Home owner Susie Birmingham says it’s been a rough year. Her son died in January, her mother died in April, and now her house has been destroyed.
