NTTA Reaches Deal With Worst Offender
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The worst toll violator in North Texas has finally agreed to pay up. At least partially.
Amber Young of Dallas was the North Texas Tollway Authority’s most-wanted driver, with outstanding violations on more than 8,500 unpaid tolls.
Now, Young has come forward, and has cut a deal with the NTTA.
KRLD’s Matt Thomas Reports:
The NTTA’s Michael Rey says Young will pay $5,000 up front and $250 a month for the next eight years on her bill. She also has to open a Toll Tag account and keep a $500 balance at all times.
Rey says they initially didn’t hear from Young when her name appeared at the top of their online top scofflaws list earlier this year, but she finally came forward to settle up.
Under the settlement, Young will end up paying just under $29,000, or about 15 per cent of what she owes the NTTA in tolls and fines.
That amount equals out to all the tolls she owed going back three years said Rey.
If she defaults on any of it, she she’ll be responsible for the full amount of more than $183,000.
