DALLAS (AP) – The former corporate spokesman for computer game retailer Gamestop has admitted to defrauding the company out of almost $2 million.

Frank Christopher Olivera was vice president of corporate communications and public affairs for the Grapevine, Texas-based retailer. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty in Dallas on Tuesday to mail fraud.

A Justice Department statement says the 46-year-old Grapevine man also could be fined up to $250,000 and ordered to pay restitution. He remains free on bond pending sentencing, which has yet to be scheduled.

Court documents show Olivera submitted fraudulent invoices for vendor services from a fictitious company he set up from July 2009 to April 2011.

A Gamestop spokeswoman says Olivera was terminated last year and the company cooperated with the federal investigation.
