ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Not all North Texas shoppers are waiting for Black Friday. Some of them are beating the rush and saving money in the process.
Traditional Black Friday shoppers set up with tents, blankets and pillows camping outside for hours, days, and now more than a full week for door buster deals.
“We’re just trying to get the deals,” says David Nicholl, who is set up outside Best Buy in South Arlington waiting for midnight Friday.
But for those, like Barbara McGowan, who want to skip the crowds, all the shopping starts a little earlier. The newest trend is pre-Black Friday buying.
“We don’t do Black Friday,” says McGowan. “I don’t like fighting the crowds for one thing.”
Discount stores like Ross and Steinmart have seen sales pick up prior to Black Friday. These stores already sell name brands at a lower price and have added pre-Black friday bargains to the mix to keep customers coming in.
“We’ve had a great week all week long, starting with Sunday, all the way through today, having a gain each day which is great,” says Steinmart store manager, Karen Kennedy.
It’s also great for budget minded shoppers who want to beat the crowds.
