DECATUR (CBSDFW.COM) – Wise County Sheriff Dave Walker confirms the death of an inmate Wednesday night.
David Malone was in custody for the murder of Samantha McNorton. Malone was being held in an isolation cell at the Wise County Jail.

Jailers were checking on Malone every 30 minutes as Standard Operating Procedure with inmates in isolation cells.
A jailer saw Malone talking on the phone and about 17 minutes later Malone was found hanging by a bed sheet.
Decatur Fire, Wise County EMS were called and gave Malone CPR but Malone was pronounced dead a local hospital.
Walker says a member of the Texas Rangers detachment from Garland has been brought in to investigate the case.
Authorities are waiting on the Tarrant County Medical Examiner to make a ruling on Malone’s death.
Malone was being held on a $2-million bond in the murder case.
The isolation cells have phone jacks and the inmate is given the use a phone, but the phone is not a permanent fixture in the cell.
