DALLAS (AP) - A former Dallas police officer who led the city’s Crime Stoppers program has been sentenced to just under four years in prison for her admitted role in running a rewards scam.

Theadora Ross of Rowlett pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and income tax evasion. U.S. District Judge David Godbey on Monday in Dallas sentenced Ross to 46 months in prison.

Ross admitted to giving a co-defendant bogus tip numbers and code words to collect rewards from a bank and share the money.

She admitted the co-defendant, Malva Delley, would deposit the cash directly into her bank account. She acknowledged concealing more than $170,000 in income over four years on her tax returns.

Delley has already pleaded guilty.
