Jerry Jones Admits To Pulling For Redskins Over Giants
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) – “We couldn’t believe it – but we were hoping they would get the job done” said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones when asked if he was rooting for the Redskins to beat the Giants on Monday night.
With that win, the NFC East playoff picture begins to shift and Jones is optimistic about how it could play out saying “It is where we hoped it would be after our game against Philadelphia. If we beat Cincinnati, and we play well, then good things could happen for us giving us a tie breaking situation with the Giants.” Jones also gave thanks to Redskins QB Robert Griffin III saying “RG3 is again a major factor in what is happening and that was a big win for them, but for us too”.

When asked about the ‘bad play’ with the O-line, specifically Doug Free’s league leading penalty stats Jones said “By no means have I given up on Doug Free” adding “I think that, first of all, we put some pressure on our tackles,” “A lot of play action helps your tackles. Some of the things we do in our passing game, we ask a lot of our tackles. So you got to take that into consideration.”
“I know that he’s got his eye on the ball, figuratively speaking, and he’s not going to quit. We’ve got another player out there that’s really got a lot of upside that has played well when he’s had an opportunity and that’s Jermey Parnell, so I think we’re in good shape at tackle.”
“The other things is, I just think that Doug Free’s biggest asset is quick feet. You can make a case, believe it or not, that he plays better left tackle than he does right tackle. Be that as it may, he should be an outstanding right tackle. A couple years back we had him in the top five to 10 tackles in the league. I think that we can see that from him.
