Rangers Named 2012 Topps Organization Of The Year

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – For the first time in franchise history, the Texas Rangers have been awarded the Topps “Organization of the Year Award” for 2012.

The Organization of the Year Award, which originated in 1966, highlights the Major League team that has shown outstanding performance, depth and talent throughout their Major and Minor League teams.

Teams accumulate points throughout the season as individual players receive Topps awards. The awards include All-Star selections, as well  as Player of the Month and Year selections.

According to the team, the following players are among the Rangers’ individual winners from 2012:

  • Jurickson Profar (Topps 2012 All-Star/ Player of the Month – Texas League/ )
  • Joey Gallo (Topps 2012 All-Star / Player of the Month/ Player of the Year – Arizona League)
  • Engel Beltre (Topps 2012 All-Star – Texas League)
  • Leonys Martin (Player of the Month – Pacific Coast League.)
  • Mike Olt (Topps 2012 All-Star – Texas League)

The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees lead the league, having each won the trophy five times.

Topps is an international marketer of entertainment products, principally collectible trading cards, confections and sticker collections.
