KILLEEN (AP) – Police have ordered an autopsy on a newly born infant found dead in a restroom at a Central Texas department store near Fort Hood.
A Killeen police statement says an employee at a Walmart Superstore in Killeen found the newly born child not breathing in a women’s restroom at the store Friday afternoon.
Bell County Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the child dead shortly after 2 p.m. Friday. Police spokeswoman Carroll Smith gave no information on the child’s gender or other description of the infant’s condition. However, she said police are appealing for the mother to seek medical attention immediately or contact police, who will help in getting her medical attention.
