DALLAS (AP) – Dallas police say a meeting allegedly set up for a drug deal ended with one person shot dead and another in critical condition.

Police say two men met Monday just before midnight near a dumpster at a north Dallas apartment complex.

Police say Garrett Branch and Sean Green exchanged gunfire. Green was hit several times and died at an area hospital. Branch was taken by several people to another hospital.

Before entering the hospital, police say Branch gave a loaded magazine to a witness and a pistol to another person, who left it near some bushes by the emergency room.

Police later found the magazine and the gun.

Branch is charged with capital murder. He remains hospitalized and did not have an attorney listed Tuesday morning.
