DALLAS (AP) – Items that belonged to President Gerald Ford and first lady Betty Ford, including the late president’s golf clubs, are going up for auction.
Dallas-based Heritage Auctions will offer up more than 50 items of the Fords on Tuesday. The golf clubs are in their original bag, which features the late president’s name, two American flags and the presidential seal.
Other items include a fur shoulder cape embroidered with Betty Ford’s name in the lining and the last flag that flew over the White House during the Ford presidency.
The items are being offered up by the Ford family to raise money to fund construction of a new student learning center at the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Gerald Ford died in 2006. Betty Ford died last year.
