Man Gets 43 Years For Sexually Abusing Daughters
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A 32-year-old Army veteran has been sentenced to 43 years in prison for the repeated sexual abuse of his two biological daughters.
Jurors deliberated for about four hours on Thursday before sentencing the defendant for continuous sexual abuse of children, a charge that carries no parole eligibility.
The name of the defendant is being withheld to protect the identity of his daughters.
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that on July 3, 2011, the 12-year-old daughter made an outcry of sexual abuse against her father while at a Fourth of July celebration with the family. The girl’s mother took all five of her daughters to a family member’s house for the night.
While at the house, a second daughter, age 9, also revealed to her mother that she had been sexually abused by her father. The mother alerted police.
During the investigation, the girls revealed that their father had sexually abused them on numerous occasions for years.
In the punishment phase of the trial, two other family members – the defendant’s little sister and his wife’s little sister – also testified that the defendant had sexually abused them as children.
“There is nothing that could ever take away the pain, fear and shame this defendant has caused his family,” said Assistant District Attorney Melinda Westmoreland in a statement. “But today, the jury made sure that no other child will
ever suffer again at the hands of this defendant.”
