DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A Dallas man remains in the hospital, paralyzed from a brutal attack in November, while his family and police continue to look for the men responsible.
Arturo Villa was walking home near Haskell and Ross when he was approached by three men asking for his money. When he said no, things turned violent, according to Dallas police.
“They all three attacked him. They punched him, kicked him and when he was down on the ground, you can see they are fleeing now,” said Detective Cayce Shelton, as he watched surveillance video, which caught the attack.
Detective Shelton goes on to explain what happened next and what changed Villa’s life forever.
“This individual that came back was kicking him in the head repeatedly while the other two subjects took the shoes he was wearing and the jacket he was wearing and then they took his wallet.”
Villa made it back home, called 911 and told his wife what happened. But a couple of hours later, he started shaking and passed out.
A CT scan showed bleeding in Villa’s brain had caused a seizure, which paralyzed his left side and left him unable to speak.
Villa has three adult step-children, two young step kids, and two biological children. All are praying he pulls through.
“It’s hard to see him there, he’s a very outgoing person and he always helps it’s just hard to see him there, that’s not him,” said Miguel Padilla, Villa’s stepson.
Police say the suspects were driving a white, full-sized Dodge Ram pickup.
Detective Shelton is asking anyone who might have any information about this crime to call Crimestoppers. You can remain anonymous.
