PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) A heart-breaking scene in Plano Monday night.
Firefighters say an 87-year-old man died in a Christmas Eve house fire.
Reports from the scene say it may have been caused by a Christmas tree that caught fire and spread quickly.
Some neighbors report hearing a couple of explosions.
It happened at the 2500 block of Parkhaven Drive at Kyle Drive. That’s near Independence between Park and Parker.
One of the firefighters suffered burns and is now at Medical Center Hospital in Plano with non-life threatening injuries. Four others escaped without physical injuries.
“First arriving crews did find the back of the home quite a bit of fire showing, quite a bit of dmoke. First arriving crews entered the house in the front where they were told the victim was,” said Captain Peggy Harrell with the Plano Fire Department.
Crews will remain on scene cleaning up and investigating.
