CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Two police officers in Carrollton were injured Sunday morning in a crash along Interstate-35E, near the President George Bush Turnpike. The incident happened at about 6:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway, after authorities stopped a vehicle for suspected drunk driving.
Three officers in two patrol cars actually stopped to investigate the possible DWI on Sunday morning. They arrested a driver and placed him in the back seat of a police vehicle. During the arrest, officers were made aware of another suspected drunk driver in the area. Then, a short time later, that second suspect crashed into the back of the police patrol car that was carrying the first suspect.
Two police officers were injured during the crash and transported to local hospitals for treatment. Both were later released with minor inuries.
The two suspects were also transported to local hospitals. Although they have not yet been released, they are both expected to recover without issue. They are both expected to face criminal charges.
