Robbery Suspect No Match For Fort Worth Police
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A criminal and his choice of a getaway vehicle were no match for police early this morning in West Fort Worth.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery around 4 :15 at the Shell Gas Station at 4900 Bryant Irvin Road.
When they arrived, they were told the suspect arrived in a Yellow Taxi cab, came inside, and handed the clerk a note, saying he had a gun and wanted money.
No weapon was seen, but the clerk handed over the cash, and the suspect went back out and got into the cab.
A police lieutenant looking for the man saw the cab pull into a QuikTrip on Alta Mere Drive a short time later, where by chance a Fort Worth Police sergeant was gassing up her squad car.
The suspect was quickly taken into custody, and will be charged with the robbery.
His name has not yet been released.
Police don’t believe the taxi driver was aware of what had happened.
