AUSTIN (AP) — Texas coach Rick Barnes has been at a loss to explain his team’s struggles this season.
Barnes has seldom been in a situation like this. In 26 years as a head coach, Barnes has had only one losing season, back in 1991-92 at Providence.
Yet here Texas is, bumbling along at 10-13 and desperate for point guard Myck Kabongo to give the Longhorns a big lift when he returns Wednesday from a 23-game NCAA suspension.
Texas plays Iowa State (16-7) Wednesday night, with eight games left in the regular season to see what damage they can do before the Big 12 tournament.
