SURPRISE, Ariz. (CBSDFW.COM) – Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus arrived to spring training on Thursday morning, a day prior to the Friday deadline for position players. The topic of conversation surrounding Andrus is primarily on his contract. He has two years left on his current deal and he is a Scott Boras client — meaning that contracts are always a discussion.

The presence of Jurickson Profar, whose locker is right next to Andrus, makes the topic a little more interesting.

While there is plenty of time for those discussions — two years to be exact — I am concerned with more pressing issues: Andrus’ hair. It was full-on Elvis-like on Thursday morning. Andrus is sporting a strong Mohawk. It has so much product in it, it feels like rubber grass. Yes, I touched it.

Andrus is one of the most fun, talented and engaging players on this team. He is also willing to experiment with a variety of hairstyles, whether it be a curly mess, braids or the Mohawk. He is a talented shortstop and also proves my theory that good hair is definitely a sport.
