DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Dallas arrested a drug suspect early Thursday morning after he barricaded himself inside of his home. The incident started near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Arroyo Avenue, as both uniformed and undercover officers were looking into complaints about drugs in the area.
Uniformed officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a suspected vehicle, but the man inside refused to exit. The suspect was identified as Charles Macdonald. Police said that the 24-year-old man displayed a large knife during the initial stop, forcing officers to back away from the vehicle and let the suspect flee.
Authorities were able to follow Macdonald to his home. The suspect ran inside and barricaded himself inside of a back bedroom, along with an adult witness. According to police, the suspect threatened to kill himself and others.
A specialized SWAT team was called to the scene and was able to take Macdonald into custody. There were no injuries to police officers, the suspect or the witness.
Macdonald has now been charged with evading arrest. The witness declined to file additional charges.
