NEW YORK (CBS SPORTS) - Major League Baseball has mandated new, stronger batting helmets for all players starting with the first spring training games this weekend. The implementation of the new helmets was part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed last winter.

The Rawlings S100 Pro Comp helmet is the standard for the new helmets. It’s that goofy-looking Great Gazoo helmet, which players like David Wright and Francisco Cervelli wore following concussions in recent years. Rawlings has a new, slimmed-down version that is equally safe but not as funny looking, thankfully.
