SURPRISE, Ariz. (CBS SPORTS.COM) – The Rangers posted a lineup for Thursday’s game against the Indians at 10:12 a.m. ET, with All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus slated to bat third.
Just over an hour later, a new lineup was posted with big-time prospect Jurickson Profar set to play short instead of Andrus.
The Rangers then announced Andrus would be in the lineup Friday and Saturday before heading to the World Baseball Classic.
So why the late scratch? He’s experiencing sensitivity in is left arm due to a new tattoo.
It’s probably fair to question why this elaborate tattoo wasn’t acquired in the offseason, but considering Andrus is only missing one spring game and it’s still February (barely now), this isn’t even remotely a big deal. It is funny, though.
And thanks to Andrus on his own Twitter account (@ElvisandrusSS1), here is the tattoo. Elaborate barely begins to describe this tribute to his father.
