No March Lion for North Texas

by Meteorlogist Jeff Jamison

The weather has been and will remain quiet and dry for the next several days.  We will see another breezy day Friday and a bit cooler, but nothing terribly dramatic.

February ended up being slightly warmer and drier than average at DFW.  Meteorological winter also ends today and the 2012-13 winter was the 11th warmest on record.

There was a rainfall deficit for February over all of North Texas.  We did have a couple of strong storm systems roll across our region in February, but we still came up short.  Moderate to severe drought continues for most of North Texas with some pockets of extreme drought, especially south and west of the Metroplex.

We will see below average temperatures through the weekend before a big jump in temps by Monday with a southwest wind.  Looks like next week will be very mild but no rain at all in the forecast for the first seven days of March.
