DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) – It’s a slow process but ‘Skinny,’ the tubby orange and white tabby cat that CBS 11 introduced to you in September 2012 is losing weight.

Skinny is tipping the scales at 35.7 pounds these days, down from a whopping 41 pounds last fall.

He’s getting more exercise at his new home says Dr. Brittney Barton, who recently adopted Skinny.

Skinny had been living at a specialized “apartment” at the East Lake Pet Orphanage and Pet Hospital for the past several months.

Barton says she became attached to the onetime 41-pound cat she was treating at the animal orphanage and last month he became part of her family. Skinny joins Barton’s husband, three children, a dog and another cat at the residence.

Barton says Skinny gets along great with the other animals, can jump up on a couch and runs to his food bag at feeding time. She says the house has long hallways that provide good exercise for Skinny

Dr. Barton says Skinny still has a ways to go before he’s down to a healthy weight.
