FORT WORTH (AP) – TCU trustees have approved the design of a $45 million renovation to the school’s basketball arena.
There have been several renovations and expansions to the 52-year-old facility, but the latest will be the most significant. The playing surface will be lowered to increase courtside seating, along with wider concourses and new concession stands and restrooms. There will also be new locker rooms.
The facade of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum would complement the adjacent football stadium, which underwent a $164 million rebuild completed before the 2012 season, the school’s first as a member of the Big 12 conference.
TCU has already received a lead commitment of $10 million. Athletic director Chris Del Conte is hopeful construction can begin can begin “this time next year.”
