ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — The Texas Rangers are teaming up with Carter BloodCare to host a blood drive in advance of Sunday’s AL West game against the Seattle Mariners in Arlington.
The blood drive, which the team announced on Saturday evening, comes just days after a fertilizer plant explosion in West killed at least 14 and injured more than 200.
On Saturday, the team held a supply donation drive to collect essential items for the victims of the blast.
The blood drive will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame, located on the concourse behind the Lower Home Run Porch.
Officials from the City of West have also requested that the Rangers ask fans who wish to make a donation do so in the form of gift cards or cash donations, which is the best means for fans to help.
These items will be collected outside the gates beginning at noon and continuing until 30 minutes after the 2:05 p.m. first pitch.
The team says the plan is to deliver all of the collected items next week.
