Suspect Found Dead After Barricading Himself In Residence
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A standoff between police and a man accused of attacking his roommate ended Monday when police discovered his body inside his West Dallas home.
Dallas Police say the suspect and his roommate were involved in an altercation the night before in which the victim was “struck in the head with a firearm.” The suspect then held the victim at gunpoint overnight.
Police say the victim was able to escape the residence this morning, along with a witness, and get medical treatment at a local hospital. The suspect then barricaded himself inside the home with unknown weapons and refused to come out when police arrived.
The suspect fired at Dallas SWAT officers, striking their armored truck around 11:30 a.m. Police initially sent a robot in to inspect the residence.
After employing tear gas, Dallas SWAT entered the house and found the suspect dead of an apparent gunshot wound. It is unclear whether the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot or from police fire.
The home is located at 5400 Singleton Blvd. in West Dallas.
