HERE COMES THE COLD AIR

The cold front that I have been talking about since last week, gets here tonight.  With it comes Arctic air.  This will be some of the coldest air we have ever seen this late in the Spring season.

THIS EVENING

Storms will develop west of DFW.  These storms will primarily move south.  There is a slight risk of severe weather in far western sections of North Texas.  Here’s the slight risk area.  Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threat.

Severe Risk Day 1

TONIGHT

Cold front arrives in DFW after midnight.  Scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm will be possible.  No severe weather expected overnight in DFW.

FEELS LIKE WINTER TOMORROW

Tomorrow will be really unbelievably cold for May.  Temperatures will start in the 40s and low 50s Thursday morning.  Temperatures stay in the 40s all day with gusty north winds.  There will also be scattered showers throughout the day.

RAINFALL

Most areas won’t see much rain.  Highest rain totals will be out west where you have the chance of seeing a few thunderstorms.  Elsewhere it will be spotty showers that won’t fill up the rain bucket very much.  Below are the rainfall forecasts.

RECORD COLD FRIDAY MORNING AND A FREEZE FOR SOME

As I posted yesterday, record cold temperatures expected Friday morning with a low of 39 degrees expected at DFW.  This would be the latest 30 degree reading ever recorded this late in Spring.  The current latest date is May 1.

Some areas north and west of DFW could see a freeze early Friday morning.  The counties shaded in blue below are under a FREEZE WATCH for Friday morning.

Here’s a look at low temperatures I expect.
