GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) – A teenager died on Sunday night after an alleged drunk driver struck him while he was walking a across a bridge in Grand Prairie. Naiim Mustafa Bethea was pronounced dead on scene after his body was thrown off of the Corn Valley Road bridge and into Kirby Creek below.

It happened at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday night. The creek is 19 feet below the bridge.

Police said that the 19-year-old victim was wearing headphones at the time of the incident, and he may not have seen or heard the on-coming Dodge pickup truck. Two other pedestrians on the opposite side of the road witnessed the whole thing.

The 31-year-old driver of that vehicle told police that he did not see the teen, but he was later arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter. The driver was later identified as George T. Roarx of Grand Prairie. The case remains under investigation.

This was the 10th traffic fatality this year in Grand Prairie.
