CEDAR HILL (CBSDFW.COM) - A Cedar Hill resident recently captured surveillance video of an unlikely intruder inside his home.

Jean Luke has raised his three dogs Hugo, Gotti and Sadie since they were puppies. Last week, his elaborate surveillance camera system captured video an intruder of the canine variety who he thinks entered his home because his female dog was in heat.

Luke often opens the back door to his home so that his dogs can come in and out of the home freely. Last week, a stray pit bull jumped the fence behind his home and entered his home in search of the female dog, Sadie, who was locked in her kennel.

Luke was asleep in his bedroom, unaware an unwanted visitor had entered his home.

As the strange pit bull approached his room, his husky named Hugo, who is usually a very playful dog, instinctively protected his owner and lunged at the unfamiliar dog.

“For Hugo to sense a threat, I’ve never seen him sense a threat like that,” Luke said.

The commotion of the altercation finally awoke Luke, who noticed Gotti and Hugo fighting with the pit bull outside.

Finally, the pit bull left the same way he came in, by jumping the back fence.

Only when Luke reviewed the surveillance footage did he realize the unknown dog had been in his home and that his dog Hugo had protected him.

“When I rewinded my cameras, and I seen the dog walk in my house I felt violated,” he said. “He could have been startled if I would have woke up too fast. He probably would have attacked me.”

Now Luke says he’s glad to be closing the door on this ordeal and plans to keep his door closed from now on.
