DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – 105.3 The Fan is hearing early reports that former Dallas Maverick Jason Kidd has been picked to be the next head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.

After 19 years as a player in the NBA, Kidd recently retired after one season with the New York Knicks.

The move reunites Kidd with the franchise he led to consecutive NBA Finals in 2002-03, when they played in New Jersey.

“Welcome home, Jason,” owner Mikhail Prokhorov says Wednesday in a statement.

Kidd got his start with the Dallas Mavericks in 1994 as the second overall pick in the NBA Draft. He is a ten-time NBA All-Star, a five-time All-NBA First Team member, and a nine-time NBA All-Defensive Team member.

This is a developing story.
