North Texas Couple Arrested In Deaths Of Puppies
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A Tarrant County couple have been arrested on animal cruelty charges after authorities say three puppies were found dead and burned in a barrel over the weekend.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office says 38-year-old Melissa Woodard and 33-year-old Christoper Apala were arrested Saturday at a home in northwest Tarrant County.
The two remained in jail Tuesday on three charges of animal cruelty and $15,000 bond each.
“When we arrived, we found that the caller was a lady who told us that her sister and her sister’s boyfriend had killed three puppies and left them in a barrel which they typically burn trash in,” said Terry Grisham with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.
Grisham says the carcases of the puppies were badly burned, though it was unclear whether the puppies were killed before or after they were burned.
