DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Dallas Stars announced the signing of 33-year-old free agent goaltender Dan Ellis to a two-year contract on Friday.

Ellis appeared in 19 games with Carolina last season, posting a 6-8-2 record, a .906 save percentage, a 3.13 goals against average and one shutout.

“Dan is a proven goaltender in this League and he will be a great complement to Kari Lehtonen,” stated General Manager Jim Nill. “He’s a true professional that will compete hard each and every day.”

The six-year NHL veteran has appeared in 184 career regular season games for Dallas, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Anaheim and Carolina. He has a career record of 78-65-17 with 13 shutouts, a .908 save percentage and a 2.73 goals against average.

Richard Bachman served as the team’s primary backup last season, appearing in 13 games and compiling a record of 6-5.
