DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Former Washington Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot, the owner of 21 career interceptions and zero Pro Bowl appearances, is taking on a Cowboys legend.
In a recent podcast with Guest House Radio, the former player had the following to say about Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.
“Nobody that meets Emmitt Smith likes Emmitt Smith. Have you heard anybody say’ Hey man, I met Emmitt Smith and I really love him’? Nobody likes Emmitt Smith. I don’t know if he’s just a jerk ’cause he’s a Cowboy. I don’t know. He be rubbing people the wrong way.”
After being drafted in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft, Smoot went on to play 9 seasons in the NFL with Washington and Minnesota.
His stint in Minnesota is remembered best for his role in the 2005 Vikings boat cruise scandal, in which prostitutes were allegedly hired for a “sex party.” Smoot, who was alleged to have organized the party, pled guilty to disorderly conduct.
105.3 The Fan reached out to Smoot for clarification on his comments, but has not received a response.
