FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A small cat has Fort Worth firefighters to thank for saving one of its nine lives.

Fire crews responded to an involved house fire Monday evening to find the small cat trapped inside. The woman who lived in the home, who suffered from smoke inhalation, was able to escape on her own. She was later taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cat, however, was unresponsive and firefighters had to administer medical treatment until the cat could start breathing on its own. It is expected to make a full recovery.

Meanwhile, the fire was quickly brought under control.
