BALCH SPRINGS (CBSDFW.COM) — Firefighters worked overnight to extinguish a church fire in Balch Springs that destroyed the gym facility.

The fire began in the 3700 block of Peachtree Road near Elam Road at the Greater Apostolic Tabernacle around 3: 30 a.m.

Pastor Andrew Elms was alerted to respond to the scene shortly after the fire began.

“When I first got here, there were no flames whatsoever. Now, it’s raging pretty good,” said Pastor Elms.

Multiple crews extinguished the fire around 5:50 a.m., though the gym appears to be destroyed.

Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire. There have been no reported injuries.
