It hit 100° again at the DFW airport today; that’s the 3rd time that’s happened here in the first five days of meteorological Fall. This also makes the 26th time this year at DFW we’ve hit that mark or above, well above average:
Its the 27th time for DFW but Love Field in Dallas has logged over 30 (including another one today):
A 100° day in September is normally a rare event ; from 1981-2010 the DFW Airport has averaged only one:
Notice that the most 100° September days occurred in 2000 with seven. But look how many the airport logged in the last two:
Also notice that six of the last ten years six didn’t have ANY days where the high hit 100° or higher.
We are expecting another 100° day tomorrow before the temperatures start to ramp down again. But I wouldn’t go as far to say tomorrow will be the last 100° of the year. Two years ago the last 100° didn’t happen until the 29th (2011 was the hottest summer on record); back in 2005 the last one occurred on the 28th (that was the hottest September on record).
