ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) – Expectations were high after the Cowboys dominated the St. Louis Rams in Arlington in Week 3. But an ugly loss in San Diego has left many fans frustrated and searching for answers.
In his weekly show on New School with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan, Jones says they team brings the attention and the expectations upon itself — and fans have every right to be disappointed.
“I don’t expect them to think any differently,” said Jones. “We push it out there. We build up expectations. We certainly try every way we can to have the Cowboys front and center. We do it with our great stadium. We try to do it every chance we get on television; that’s the lineage of the Cowboys.”
Jones calls the 30-21 loss a big “comedown”, particularly because the team had a great opportunity to take advantage of a hobbled Chargers team. The GM says the team was unable to seize the momentum in key situations in the game.
But Jones doesn’t want fans to lower their expectations.
“The Cowboys have always been about creating interest, creating attention. When you live in a world of parody, and you can basically take the visibility of the Cowboys and really push it out there…you’re going to create some problems with expectations when you don’t win the football game.”
