AUSTIN (AP) - Cleanup work gets underway in earnest a day after flash floods across Central Texas killed two men and prompted dozens of emergency rescues.

Friday will be a day of damage appraisals after storms in the Austin area left behind up to 13 inches of rain. The bad weather that started late Wednesday and continued through Thursday triggered flash floods in a region that since 2011 has had drought.

Austin police say the body of a man 50 to 60 years old was found in the city’s flooded Onion Creek. Earlier, the Caldwell County sheriff’s office said a man died Thursday after driving on a low-lying portion of road overtaken by flooding.

Names of the victims weren’t immediately released.
