DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An Army veteran is fighting for his life after a brutal attack outside of a popular Dallas restaurant. The incident happened on Sunday at Campisi’s on Mockingbird Lane. Another customer found the victim on the ground just outside of the building, in a pool of blood.
Lou Rocha was leaving Campisi’s with a pizza in hand when he was beaten and left for dead. Before he was rushed to the hospital, the 70-year-old victim was able to tell paramedics that three men attacked him. Those attackers are still on the loose.
The victim’s friends and family members have now taken to social media — and news media — in hopes of finding the men responsible for the attack.
Rocha is an Army veteran, and his family said that he was an advocate for children who were less fortunate. His son said that Rocha is in ICU and was so severely beaten that he is now barely recognizable. “Head injuries from the back all the way to the front. He’s got to have facial reconstructive surgery. His ribs are broken. His arm’s broken. It’s just all over his body, pretty beat up,” said Lou Rocha Jr.
“At this moment,” the victim’s son added, “we don’t know whether or not he’s going to make it.”
Police have zero suspects and few leads in this case. They also are not sure why Rocha was attacked. His vehicle, wallet, keys and iPod were all found at the scene. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Dallas Police Department.
