Sports Fan Insider
DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - With Super Bowl XLVIII just a little over a week away, guys like Pocket-Change Pauli and his ilk are pouring though the numbers and looking for new ways to separate you from your money.
From the legal Sports Books in Las Vegas to the New Jersey alleyway scumbag bookies, hard-core gamblers will always have something to bet on – other than the game itself.
Thanks to the brilliant minds at Bovada.com, here is a sneak peek at some of the more interesting prop bets that you can waste money on.
Will it snow during the game?
It’s Jersey (not New York) in February and the East coast has been smacked several times this season with crappy weather. If a single snowflake dares to hit the ground in that smelly swamp you know every photographer in the stadium, and every moron with a smart phone, will have their lenses pointed at it. It’s a safe bet.
Will the power go out in the stadium during the game?
YES 25/1 odds
No one thought it would happen – but that is exactly what happened last year at the Super Bowl at the New Orleans Superdome.
How long will it take Renee Fleming to sing the US National Anthem?
Over 2 minutes 30 seconds EVEN (1/1)
Under 2 minutes 30 seconds -140 (5/7)
The Super Bowl will have a touch of the classical this year as Opera star Renee Fleming will sing the national anthem. If you’ve ever been to an Opera, you know these chicks are loud enough to shatter glass and can hold a note longer than it takes to cross the George Washington bridge. At a normal pace it takes about 65 seconds to sing it…but remember, it’s Opera.
How many times will Peyton Manning say “Omaha” during the game?
During the AFC Championship game Manning made $24,800 for his charity by saying “Omaha” 31 times. Eight businesses donated the money to Manning’s Peyback Foundation after they committed to donate a combined $800 for each time he said the word “Omaha” at the line of scrimmage.
How many times will Eli Manning be shown on TV during the game?
The game is at the MetLife Stadium, the home of the New York Giants, and his brother is playing…so you know ‘Dumbface’ is going to be there.
How many times will “12th man” be said during the game?
It should never be uttered unless there is the Aggies are playing in the game…but you know it’s going to happen. Plus you will see the #12 on almost every Seattle fan in attendance.
Will the announcers mention “Marijuana” during the game?
Yes +550 (11/2)
No -900 (1/9)
With each team’s home state (Colorado, Washington) being ground zero for the burgeoning newly-legal marijuana industry – and because they are playing in a ‘Super Bowl’ – you know it’s going to happen. It’s a safe bet!
Will any member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers be shirtless during their performance
Yes EVEN (1/1)
No -140 (5/7)
Shirts? They don’t need no stinking shirts! Even though it’s outside, you will be lucky if Flea keeps his pants on.
What Color will the Gatorade (or liquid) be that is dumped on the Head Coach of the winning team?
