2 Days Of Warm Before More Cold
For seven of the last nine days highs have been below normal, including Sunday. All this came on the heels of the last powerful cold front that arrived a week ago Sunday. That’s the day temperatures dropped a full 49-degrees from early morning to afternoon.
We have another big drop in temperatures on the way. It arrives during the overnight hours early Wednesday. Before then we start the work week with ABOVE normal temperatures. With mostly sunny skies and a southwest wind temperatures jump into the low 70’s. There is a slight rain chance across the southern counties. For the metroplex this will likely only be some clouds.
The winds pick up on Tuesday as a low pressure system forms on the front range of the Rockies. This front will do two things for us: it’ll give us a dramatic warm-up on Tuesday and a dramatic cool-down on Wednesday. You can see that around midnight on Wednesday its still in the 60’s in the metro area while in the 40’s just up the road in Wichita Falls:
The low is going to produce very strong winds behind it. Gusts could reach 40-mph. Expect howling cold winds from Wednesday morning on through afternoon:
The extended forecast shows that the cold air won’t be hanging around like last time. We’ll be in the 70’s again by Saturday. Right now it looks like another cold front arrives on Sunday dropping the temperatures once again.
No freeze in the forecast. Over the last 30-years the average last freeze at DFW has occurred on March 13th, this coming Thursday.
